Amendment originally sought to delete $30 million authorized for the resettlement of Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian refugees and restore the funding to the account for general refugee assistance. \ As amended by the Smith (NJ) amendment (A012) language was added that reinstates $30 million to the general refugee fund, but stipulates that no funds may be used to forcibly repatriate any refugee and permits the admission and resettlement into the U.S. of Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian refugees within the numerical limitations provided by law.

Purpose:

An amendment, printed as amendment No. 3 in the Congressional Record of May 22, to delete the $30 million in funds authorized for the resettlement of Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian refugees and restore the funding to the account for general refugee assistance.
