                                 PRAYER

The Chaplain, the Reverend Margaret Grun Kibben, offered the
following prayer:
Father of lights, shine Your light in our lives this day. You who are
pure, reveal to us Your righteousness. In You there is no darkness at
all. Lead us into Your truth.
Remind us again that even if we find ourselves standing in the shadow
of deceit, of meanness, and even despair, if we remain in fellowship
with You, attuning our hearts to Your truth and living our lives as a
reflection of Your grace and mercy, we will find hope in the light of
Your abiding presence.
Cleanse us from all unrighteousness, our own guile, unkindness, and
pessimism. Remove from us the overwhelming cloud of doubt that
threatens to overtake our spirits.
With the light of Your truth before us, illuminate our paths that we
may live in perfect fellowship with You and with one another.
Blameless may we come before You, offering our prayers in Your
eternal and perfect name.
  Amen.
