                        MESSAGES FROM THE HOUSE

  At 3:03 p.m., a message from the House of Representatives, delivered 
by Mrs. Alli, one of its reading clerks, announced that the House has 
passed the following bills, in which it requests the concurrence of the 
Senate:

       H.R. 275. An act to require the Secretary of Homeland 
     Security to publish on a monthly basis the number of special 
     interest aliens encountered attempting to unlawfully enter 
     the United States, and for other purposes.
       H.R. 875. An act to amend the Immigration and Nationality 
     Act to provide that aliens who have been convicted of or who 
     have committed an offense for driving while intoxicated or 
     impaired are inadmissible and deportable.

  The message also announced that the House has agreed to the following 
concurrent resolution, in which it requests the concurrence of the 
Senate:

       H. Con. Res. 39. Concurrent resolution authorizing the use 
     of Emancipation Hall in the Capitol Visitor Center for a 
     ceremony to present the Congressional Gold Medals awarded 
     under the Harlem Hellfighters Congressional Gold Medal Act.

  The message further announced that the Speaker has signed the 
following:

       H.R. 42. An act to amend the Alaska Native Claims 
     Settlement Act to exclude certain payments to aged, blind, or 
     disabled Alaska Natives or descendants of Alaska Natives from 
     being used to determine eligibility for certain programs, and 
     for other purposes.
       H.R. 43. An act to amend the Alaska Native Claims 
     Settlement Act to provide that Village Corporations shall not 
     be required to convey land in trust to the State of Alaska 
     for the establishment of Municipal Corporations, and for 
     other purposes.
       H.R. 618. An act to amend the Apex Project, Nevada Land 
     Transfer and Authorization Act of 1989 to include the City of 
     North Las Vegas and the Apex Industrial Park Owners 
     Association, and for other purposes.
       H.R. 2215. An act to redesignate the Salem Maritime 
     National Historic Site as the ``Salem Maritime National 
     Historical Park'', and for other purposes.

  The enrolled bills were subsequently signed by the President pro 
tempore (Mr. Grassley).

  At 7:09 p.m., a message from the House of Representatives, delivered 
by Mrs. Cole, one of its reading clerks, announced that the House has 
passed the following bill, in which it requests the concurrence of the 
Senate:

       H.R. 1. An act to provide for reconciliation pursuant to 
     title II of H. Con. Res. 14.
