                                 prayer

The Chaplain, Dr. Barry C. Black, offered the following prayer:
  Let us pray.
Eternal Lord God, You are our refuge and strength, a very present
help in trouble. Because of You, we need not fear, though the Earth be
removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.
On this day when we remember Pearl Harbor, we thank You for the
protection of Your loving providence. You protect us from dangers seen
and unseen. You sustain this Nation through seasons of distress and
grief. You raise up leaders who possess the strength, wisdom, and
courage we need to meet challenges. You are a generous and awesome God.
May the memories of Your watch care infuse us with optimism about what
the future holds. Keep us from fearing impending storms by reminding us
about the way You have led us in the past.
Today, use our lawmakers, the members of their staff, and the
thousands who work on Capitol Hill for Your glory. Especially guide our
Senators during this impeachment process.
We pray in Your great Name. Amen.
